Nestled in Minneapolis, this local favorite carries the inviting hum of a neighborhood spot where familiarity meets flavor, and every visit offers a little slice of comfort on a plate.
The atmosphere here is relaxed and unpretentious, with a pace that suits those who want to savor both the food and the moment—whether you’re picking up a hearty order for a group or enjoying a quick solo meal. Though the space itself leans toward grab-and-go, the welcoming voices and genuine care from the team give the experience a distinctly personal touch, inviting you to linger a little longer on their sunny patio when the weather allows.
At the heart of the experience is the food, which feels thoughtfully crafted without pretense. Expect the kind of classic Chinese dishes that satisfy cravings and leave room for leftovers, whether it’s a plate of richly sauced chicken chow mein that feels hearty and familiar, or a steaming bowl of wonton soup that comforts with simplicity. The menu offers familiar favorites made with a fresh approach and portions generous enough to share or save for later, allowing the joy of discovery through every bite.
The staff here take a moment to guide newcomers, showing the menu in a way that feels friendly and sincere rather than hurried, making sure you know just what to expect from each offering—like the crispy cream cheese wontons or the tender, perfectly spiced chicken wings. It’s this kind of thoughtful interaction that shapes Don Ho’s relaxed, community-driven feel.
What lingers most after leaving Don Ho isn’t just the rich scents of Szechuan spices or the memory of fluffy fried rice, but a sense of steadiness and care—simple moments of connection and a rewarding meal that root the restaurant firmly in its Minneapolis neighborhood as a trustworthy go-to for Chinese takeout that feels like a reassuring nod to classic comfort.

My first time ordering. Great service. I called an hour prior to picking up for a large order for 8 people. I was able to get my food right on time. Great Szechuan beef with good portion vegetables. Nice sauce. General Tso was nice. Fluffy batter. Fried rice very tasty! Great value here. I’ll eat again!

Best Chinese food I’ve ever had and the employees are super kind and likable. Would 100% recommend. I got the sesame chicken, fried rice, and cream cheese balls, and it is gas.

Szechaun chicken is great, spicy chicken wings are amazing, great egg rolls, fried rice and lo mein very good. Best take out in the Twin Cities! Free sugar donuts if you spend over $50 is a fun treat.

This place is my favorite go to place for Chinese takeout. Their cream cheese puffs are big, cooked perfectly and have the best taste! Their main meals are very good as well.

SO GOOD. I got the chicken lo mein and that chicken was so tender and the flavor was great. Loved the cheese puffs. They have a flip book of the dishes and the woman helping us made sure to show us what we were getting ourselves into which I thought was sweet. Pretty reasonable pricing with large portions so be prepared for leftovers. There is no dine in seating but there is a nice patio area at the strip mall. We waited about 10 minutes after ordering in person.
